Members of the Dalton State family recently spent a day representing the college at the state capitol for the first ever Dalton State Day and State College Day.
Students, student leaders, administrators, staff and even Rage joined in the day to speak with Gov. Brian Kemp, his staff, legislators and other government officials about the college.
The day began with a drop-in breakfast provided by Dalton State. Sen. Jeff Mullis, an alumnus of Dalton State, speaks to student leader Mariela Vazquez.
Students learned about the legislative process and met one-on-one with local representatives and senators about issues important to them. Rep. Matt Barton speaks with students in the capitol's atrium.
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger asked students questions about the college and why they enjoy being a Roadrunner.
Sen. Chuck Payne took students on a tour of the senate chambers, and told them how much it means to him to be part of this state's and this nation's legislative process and history.

It also gave students a chance to network with each other and with administrators, as well as state officials. Dr. Margaret Venable, president of Dalton State, poses with female students in leadership positions at the college.
